#TBT Annie & Conan The Barbarian

MV5BMTczMjgwNTAyNV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDU3MzMyMQ@@._V1._SX79_SY140_In May 1982, Two films released within a week of each other were significant for very different reason.  The hit musical about the little red-haired orphan who finds a family, "Annie" was a huge hit on Broadway and made its star Andrea McArdle a household name.  "Annie opened on Broadway in Spring of 1977 and closed in January 1983 after nearly 2400 performances and a few more 'Annie's' including "Sex In The City" star Sarah Jessica Parker.  The premise has been made into a motion picture three times (one being a made-for- television film with five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald in 1999) with the latest one due of release later this year starring Jaime Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis as Annie.  Check out these clips from the Broadway show, the tele pic and the upcoming Annie... imageshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKCVpv-pnp0

The other film was in the at the other end of the spectrum in action-adventure and was one of the first major motion pictures starring now former California Governor - Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role of Conan in "Conan The Barbarian".  "Conan..."  was about a vengeful barbarian warrior sets off to avenge his tribe and his parents whom were slain by an evil sorcerer and his warriors when he was a boy.  It was nominated for several Golden Globes at that time garnering a win for Sandahl Bergman.  No glittery awards for Schwarzenegger, as he was nominated for a Razzie for Worst Actor in a Motion Picture.  Click on the link below for a blast to the past.  The film was done as a remake in 2011 an unfortunately didn't fare much better or was it received as well as the original 1982 version.
