Unknown-1Italy is surely one of the most romantic countries in the world and a destination on everyone's bucket list.  Back in the day...I had to opportunity to visit Italy as part of a USO-DOD tour to entertain our troops and remember it as breathtakingly beautiful with yummy food was to die for. The Trip to Italy made all those memories flush back like they were yesterday. Directed and written by Michael Winterbottom, this film chronicles and takes us along for a European adventure of two men - Steve and Rob, six meals in six different places on a road trip around Italy. Liguria, Tuscany, Rome, Amalfi and ending in Capri.    The duo are asked by The Observer to do another series of restaurant reviews. Rob, tired from the responsibilities of being father of a young child, is looking for some adventure. Steve has been living a life of abstinence and hard work in Los Angeles but, now on a hiatus from his job, has the time to come back to Europe and wants to see his children.

Rob (Rob Brydon) is often obsessed with Al Pacino, as well as, many other iconic American movie stars and his impersonations of all of them are dead on.  Steve (Steve Coogan), for all practical purposes is his sidekick and together they make the most of the Italian landscape.

I had hope that the film was a little more entertaining, as I am a huge fan of Steve Coogan.  However, besides starving from watching a few hours of great Italian cuisine on screen and being amused at Brydon's Al Pacino-esque outbursts, I would say wait for this one on pay per view.
